What is Whooping Cough? General Notes
Whooping cough is a highly contagious bacterial disease caused by Bordetella pertussis and is transmitted by droplet contact through coughing and sneezing. The incubation period is usually 7 to 20 days. A mild cold-like illness appears in the early stages, followed by a series of more severe coughs, which may continue for two to three months.
Why is it so popular now?
It is possible that thorough measures against new coronas (masks, hand washing, refraining from going out, etc.) have reduced opportunities for contact with many infectious diseases, including whooping cough, and thus reduced the collective immunity. As a result, it is presumed that the infection spread mainly among children with weak immunity.
