This summer has been really hot.
Even though I have been drinking it since I was a child,
I feel barley tea tastes even better this summer.
I've tried boiling it up, making it in packets for ease of use, and
recently I've been enjoying this barley tea made from naked barley.
Barley tea is made from barley, which can be divided into skinned barley and naked barley.
Some barley is difficult to remove the kernels and the hulls
(the skin corresponding to the husks of rice), while others are easy to remove.
In addition to its savory and refreshing taste,
barley tea is effective in cooling excess heat in the body and quenching thirst.
Other benefits include protecting the mucous membrane of the stomach and tonifying the gastrointestinal tract, making it
recommended as a summer tea when you tend to lose your appetite.
It is also rich in dietary fiber, calcium, vitamin B1, and other minerals
, which explains why it is said to help prevent heat stroke.
Not only that, it is actually good for the skin.
It contains zinc and silicon, which are known as "skin-beautifying minerals."
Not only does it suppress the formation of melanin, which causes spots and freckles,
it also balances hormones and is good for rough skin.
In addition, silicon has the ability to strengthen collagen,
It also prevents sagging and maintains firmness! If I say so much,
you might say that you don't need any other tea but barley tea anymore.
I don't recommend you to choose only barley tea, though I expect its effects (lol).
Incidentally, the naked barley tea I drink tastes more
mild than the widely sold skinned barley ones. It is more gentle and easier to drink.
Fill a large teapot and pour boiling water over it for 15 minutes.
After a thorough extraction, first drink a cup while it is still warm.
Then put it in a bottle and refrigerate it for meals or tea time,
Or a drink after a hot bath. Or carry it with you in a cool bottle.
Also available at Kameda Risaburo Yakuho's irodori curing tea,
It quenches summer thirst and is good for the skin.
